How much does Etsy take per sale?
It depends on the order total, because two parts are flat and two are percentages. For a US seller, add the $0.20 listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee on price plus shipping, and 3% plus $0.25 for Etsy Payments processing. There is no regulatory operating fee in the US. On a $30.00 order, a $25.00 item plus $5.00 shipping, total fees are $3.30 and you keep $26.70. On a $48.00 order with free shipping, total fees are $5.01 and you keep $42.99. What are Etsy fees in 2026?
Using Etsy's published US schedule as of October 2026, the fees in the calculator are: listing fee $0.20 per listing, transaction fee 6.5% of price plus shipping charged, Etsy Payments processing 3% of the order total plus $0.25 per order, and regulatory operating fee not charged in the US. Offsite Ads is separate. It applies only when an Etsy ad brings the buyer, at 15% of the order total, or 12% for shops over $10,000 a year, capped at $100 per order. Most sales never pay it, so it stays out of the receipt.
Does Etsy charge the transaction fee on shipping?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the item price plus the amount you charge for shipping. If you charge $5.00 for shipping on a $25.00 item, the fee is calculated on $30.00, not on $25.00 alone. That is why the calculator asks for shipping charged as its own line. Offering free shipping does not remove the fee on that amount, it just moves the amount into the item price.
Why does the receipt show a $0.00 regulatory fee?
Because US sellers are not charged the regulatory operating fee. The line stays on the receipt at $0.00 so you can see it was considered, not forgotten. Sellers in some other countries do pay it, at country specific rates published by Etsy.
