The fee waterfall
How Mercari charges · the rates on this receipt
Mercari rebuilt its fee schedule on January 6, 2025: the old payment processing charge went away and the selling fee settled at a flat 10%. The one line sellers still miss is the base. The 10% runs on price plus buyer-paid shipping, not the item price alone. Labels are priced by carrier and weight on Mercari's own tables, so the receipt takes the label cost as a field: when the buyer pays shipping and you use a Mercari label at that price, the label cost and the shipping charged are the same number. Mercari fees, answered plainly
How much does Mercari take per sale?
One fee: 10% of the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays. There is no listing fee and no separate payment processing fee. On a $50.00 item with $7.99 buyer-paid shipping, the base is $57.99 and the selling fee is $5.80. If you ship on Mercari's label at $7.99, the label comes out of the same payout, and you keep $44.20. The receipt above runs your own numbers the same way.
What are Mercari fees in 2026?
Using Mercari's published schedule as of October 2026: listing is free, the selling fee is 10% of price plus buyer-paid shipping, and there is no seller payment processing fee; that charge was eliminated on January 6, 2025. Buyers pay a 3.6% Buyer Protection fee at checkout, charged to the buyer rather than deducted from you. Getting paid is free by direct deposit. Instant Pay, if you choose it, is a flat $3 per cash out, and it is a payout choice, not a sale fee, so it stays out of this receipt.
Does Mercari charge the selling fee on shipping?
Yes. The 10% runs on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, so padding the shipping charge does not shrink the fee. The flip side is free shipping: it does not remove the fee, it moves the cost to you. A $25.00 item sold with free shipping pays a $2.50 selling fee, and if the label costs you $6.49, you keep $16.01. Price the label into the item before you offer free shipping to get the sale.
